search
- Images are not copied to your device
- Use the quote icon to wrap your keywords and search for a phrase,
e.g. "Salvador Dali" (click it again to remove quotes)
- You can use the plus sign (+) to include of all of your words in any order,
e.g. Salvador+Dali
- The url will contain the current search terms to allow linking
- Some, but not all, archives let you search using empty keywords
- Many character sets are supported, e.g.
jardinière
紅梅
Синагога
- Sometimes an archive does not provide a link to a preview image,
it may return a link to a placeholder
- Federated searches, e.g. 'International', will not necessarily return
an even number of results from each archive as it will exclude any
records without a link to a preview image
- Search and media servers sometimes experience problems, if weird
results or search behaviour is experienced it can be worth checking the
archive's own website or search function
scrapbooks
- Scrapbooks are shared between the various pages, you can mix and
match items from different searches and archives in the same scrapbook
- Create multiple scrapbooks, enter a new name click the 'save' button
and the current scrapbook is duplicated
- Click the 'empty' button to remove all items from the current
scrapbook or click 'delete' to remove the current scrapbook completely
- The scrapbook uses HTML5 Local Storage,
this means that your scrapbooks are saved by your browser and will
always be there until you clear your browser cache,
if scrapbooks are not saving your data, check your browser settings
for 'Local Storage'
- You can save your scrapbook as an HTML page when using the Chrome
browser
troubleshooting
- If you experience problems the first thing to try is refreshing (F5),
or even force-refreshing (CTRL-F5) each page perhaps several times to
ensure the latest Javascript and CSS files are loaded
- The site requires a HTML5 compatible browser, you may find that some
things will not work with older browsers
